Vinyl Decal Ideas for 2024
In this post I’ll go over a few 2024 forecasted trends and will let you know my ideas of how these could be implemented into a decal business - I’ll be taking notes for myself as well of course, I always try to start the year by launching a few new products or designs.

To find these trends, I tend to look at Etsy and Pinterest Predicts as well as interior, homeware and wedding trends for a lot of new trending ideas. However, if you sell decals in a specific industry you might also want to focus on those for inspiration. You can of course apply these ideas to all sorts of products too, not just decals!
Pinterest Predicts trends for 2024
Just be aware that these are mostly just predictions, so use them as inspiration rather than a solid forecast of what will sell well.
Colour of the year
It’s always interesting to check out what Pantone predicts will be the colour of the year ahead, and for 2024 they have picked Peach Fuzz. They say it “captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others” and describe it as “a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul”. Apparently.
Etsy’s 2024 colour of the year however is Berry, which they say “marries rich red and blue tones, and adds depth to 2023’s popular pinks”. So it is still on that pinky spectrum but a lot darker.
If you’re interested in interiors, Sherwin Williams the paint makers have predicted a blue called Upward as their choice.
All three are fairly different but I think all of them would be especially lovely for weddings, and the upcoming Valentine season.
If you want to find some similar colour vinyl, then you could consider Apricot or Shell Pink from Teckwrap. Siser has a Pale Peach Easy PSV too.
Berry is a bit harder to find in vinyl, so if I do come across any I will add it to the description. However, the Fuschia HTV from Teckwrap is similar if it is iron-on vinyl that you sell.
And if you want to match upward, Teckwrap’s Baby Blue is a lovely pale blue colour, which stands out on darker surfaces, in particular.
Cafécore
This upcoming trend seems built for decal makers and sign makers alike.
Searches for coffee bar styling, chalk sign ideas, coffee station decor and cafe chalkboards have gone up massively on Pinterest. So if you do sign decals and could add some designs that suit this trend, or labels that could boujee up a coffee bar, consider how you could tap into this market as it takes off.
Groovy Nuptials
I’ve got to be honest, I thought this trend was already over as 70s style fonts have been trending for the past few years, and 70s inspired wedding designs have been around for a while. But according to Pinterest searches for groovy wedding and 70s brides have increased massively. Hitched has also said the same so maybe it’s not too late.
Check out Creative Fabrica for some fabulous retro inspired fonts and maybe keep an eye on the specific 70s styles that are becoming popular - will it be more hippy or more disco designs that pique people’s interest? Who knows.
Aquatecture
I’m not sure about the logistics of this one but I thought it was worth mentioning!
Apparently there is a rise in Gen X and Millennials searching for ‘small aquarium designs’ and ‘turtle terrarium ideas’. And vinyl obviously sticks really well to glass. So maybe that could be a new avenue for someone who does pet or home decor decals. I have no clue how they would fair inside an aquarium of course, and they’re probably not best to put anywhere where small creatures could nibble on them. But for the outside of tanks, they could work. Maybe.
Cute Coins
This is for the people who sell stickers as well as decals!
Apparently, credit cards are going to get a makeover in. Piggy banks will be customised and Pinterest says there will be stickers on everything. The search for credit card stickers alone has increased by 140%. I didn’t even know these were a thing, but when you look for them, there are some cool skins available to buy. But it does seem as if the market is still fairly limited and could benefit from sellers who can offer a wider range of fun designs.
There are quite a few SVG templates online for them as well if you want to try them out.
For all of us decal people, I’m sure we could come up with some aesthetic piggy bank decals so customers can personalise their savings pots.
Western Gothic
According to Pinterest, this is the latest on-trend home style for Gen Z and Boomers, although admittedly my husband just introduced me to it recently and we’re both millennials!
Vintage Americana, country room ideas and Western mirror have all seen a massive rise in searches recently. And I think it would be very easy to do with decals if you are in the home decor niche, or if you sell mirror decals. I really love the visuals for this trend, I would happily have a room in my home like this.
Etsy has also seen a rise in gothic clothing with a 852% year on year increase in searches too. So if you do clothing, stepping into that niche may be a wise choice as well.
Inchstones
Last year Pinterest predicted that there would be a rise in 2023 of celebrations for 100th birthdays through to golden wedding anniversaries, in our post-pandemic world. And you know what, I have done so many more 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th birthday decals 2023, and quite a lot of anniversaries of all types as well. So I’ve got to say they were correct there!
In 2024 their celebration prediction is for babies. So baby naming ceremonies, My First Tooth parties, end-of-year school parties etc. So make sure, if like me you sell event decals, that you are offering designs to those wanting to celebrate their little ones.
If you do a lot of children’s designs, then Etsy has also seen a 250% year-on-year increase in searches for crafting kits for kids. So if you could somehow incorporate your products into a kit that is suitable for children, there is another great idea to start selling in the year ahead.
Again, these are just for inspiration to give you ideas of what you could potentially sell in 2024. As the year goes on, keep an eye on trends elsewhere in shops, online and on social media and watch your selling stats to see what is popular with customers and what isn’t.
I’ve also got another video with lots of tips and ideas for how to come up with new product and business ideas if you’re stuck!
